With the painting and varnishing completed 'Slipstream' is now right way up and ready for all the various accessories to be bolted and screwed on ........ mainsheet track, inspection ports, rudder gudgeons, sail control cleats etc etc .............. Then we will be good to go - can't wait.

And the fittings will add accents and contrasts to make her sparkle even more.
Barubi - Today I fitted the four inspection ports, rudder gudgeons and the main sheet track - we are getting close to lift off.
Stunning Alden, just stunning... nice work...
Kind of you to say so Steve, thank you.
I have learnt a lot about the cumulative effect of paying attention to detail doing this restoration and although the result is not perfect, it is a better result than I thought it would be. This is especially so regarding the paint job - when the big voice shouts "Ok laddie, its time to paint", my natural inclination (based on past results) is to run and hide somewhere.
Love the contrast between the yellow hull and bright mahogany deck. Can't wait to see the completed boat.
Thanks George. I am pleased with the way she is scrubbing up.
There is a small piece of mahogany trim around the bow but the deck is 'Gaboon' ply which is I think also sold under the name 'Okume'. Sheet for sheet it is lighter than Mahogany or Meranti plywood which makes it popular with dinghy sailors with wooden boats. The Gaboon plywood sheets do vary in colour from a very light pine color to the sheets I have used which when varnished up do look very much like mahogany.
Looking really good Alden
Hi Alden,
Because of certain circumstances a rather late reaction: she is beautiful.
Can’t wait to see you sailing in her.
Thanks Max - hope you and yours are all ok in your neck of the woods, what with the ramping up of restrictions in the UK re covid 19.
Thanks Ben - Hope the "certain circumstances" are auspicious for you and yours in these troubling times - keep safe.
Not so troubled, see my mail 😊
Thanks for the email Ben.

Max, thanks for the link. This photograph of 'Moonraker' is one I haven't seen before. With those very high vulnerable bulwarks and very low freeboard at the stern (18 inches) it is no wonder Ann Pye is reputed to have said "We sail in Gods pocket".
Cool blog Alden and such stunning craftsmanship - wish I was that good - thanks for the head up - have subscribed to my reading list - thanks
Thanks Steve. I have had you on my blog list for years and really enjoy your postings.
We live in troubling times but at least we both have (including looking after those near and dear) something to do which is to plan for and work towards going sailing again when this all blows over. Kia Kaha (Stay strong).
