___________________________ RACING AGAIN ________________________

This week I raced 'Slipstream' for the first time this year (That's us on the left with the distinctive roach in the mains'l). The wind was very light, at times dying away to nothing. The most important part of the whole exercise was that the new self bailers I have installed didn't leak!! Excellent!

Looks like a mixed fleet. How did you do? How many races? Details, man!

George, the photo only shows half the fleet. There are two fleets that race different courses - A 'Fast' fleet and a 'Slow' fleet. I race with the 'Slow' fleet. On this occasion I was first home in the three races. Where I came on handicap I don't know as the results have not been emailed out. Some boats in the 'Slow' fleet are smaller and slower than my boat - some are of a similar size and speed.

Clicking on the photo it appears that three of the boats in the group are Lasers. Glad to hear that you beat 'em!

The Lasers were racing in the fast fleet, so I didn't beat them. At the point shown in the photo they were probably doing the second lap of their different longer course.

How many Zephyrs in your race? By the way, your boat looks beautiful in the previous post. Well done, Alden!

Dan, I was the only Zephyr in this race. The other Zephyr owned by my mate Bernie wasn't racing, but he should be next Tuesday; we both need plenty of practise for the coming Zephyr Nationals in Wellington in a few weeks time.

180km away in Auckland dozens and dozens of Zephyrs turn out for the local racing, but that is a big distance to trailer our boats every race weekend; so Bernie and I are very motivated to promote the Zephyr class here in Northland. There are two other boats that we know of and we are actively trying to encourage the skippers to come and join the local racing.
