Irish Blessing

IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise to meet you,
And the sun stand at your shoulder,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I love that blessing. Its a day for blessings today. I came across another Irish priest poet - John O' Donahue who has some beautiful poetry blessings..'Benedictus - A Book of Blessings'
Here's one:

A blessing for solitude
May you recognize in your life the presence,
Power and light of your soul.

May you realize that you are never alone,
That your soul in its brightness and belonging
Connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.

May you have respect for your individuality and difference.

May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique,
That you have a special destiny here,
That behind the fa├žade of your life
There is something beautiful and eternal happening.

May you learn to see your self
With the same delight,
Pride and expectation
With which God sees you in every moment.

Two beautiful verses, one very familiar, the other new to me, but both just what the soul needs.

Thank you both :-)

Thankyou Delwyn that is a very nice blessing indeed.

Kathryn the Irish blessing is well known and very beautiful - I feel it is full of kindness in a soft lilting way - I like its rythmn.
