Blessing The Boats

By Lucille Clifton

may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love you back
may you open your eyes
to water water
waving forever and may
you in your innocence
sail through this to that

So, Alden, is that your restored P-Class yacht tasting the brine for the first time since receiving its new lease on life?

It's a pretty, proper little boat.

Who's the lucky lad?

No it isn't Dan but it is a P Class yacht. I went down to the local yacht club and took this photo the other day to help me purchase the bits and pieces I will require to rig my P Class. I am at the rigging stage now - all the restoration / painting etc is completed. But I want to do the rigging bit correctly so I looked at the way a few P Classes were set up to give me some ideas.

Yes its a pretty little boat - the lad is a local boy.
